Welcome to The Great Gatsby Pathfinder
This pathfinder, by MLS student Bethany A., is dedicated to all things Gatsby! The site explores the book, the author, the time period, the 2013 movie, and ideas for extension activities. This site is intended for high school students who have read (and hopefully enjoyed!) F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and are looking to learn more or research for a project. Ideas for activities and projects are also included for teachers.
In my research I was unable to locate a pathfinder for students that includes information on the 2013 film and with it's popularity I wanted to create something current for students to use in order to make meaningful connections with the book. Materials were evaluated based on the quality of information presented, as well as how easy to use they would be for high school students.
Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby in 1925 and the book explored themes including "decadence, idealism, resistance to change, social upheaval, and excess, creating a portrait of The Jazz Age or The Roaring Twenties that has been described as a cautionary tale regarding the American Dream." (Wikipedia).
Check out this video recap of the book if you need a quick refresher:
